Parc Astérix Expands Its Empire

In a groundbreaking move set to delight fans of the indomitable Gauls across Europe, Compagnie des Alpes (CDA) has officially announced the creation of the first international Parc Astérix. Located in Eastern Germany, this new theme park will emerge from the transformation of the existing Belantis AbenteuerReich (Belantis Adventure Realm). This strategic expansion marks a significant milestone for the beloved Astérix franchise, bringing the magic of the Gaulish village closer to millions.

A New Gaulish Outpost in Saxony

The chosen location, Belantis Park, sits strategically near Leipzig, offering excellent accessibility from major German cities including Dresden and Berlin. This makes it an ideal destination for both German and Central European visitors eager to experience the unique blend of humor, adventure, and Roman-bashing antics that Parc Astérix is famous for.

Phased Transformation Begins in 2026

Idéfix - Dogmatix

The metamorphosis of Belantis into Parc Astérix Germany will be a gradual process, ensuring a thoughtful and immersive conversion. The initial phase is scheduled for spring 2026, with the grand opening of the first dedicated area: a new zone centered around Idéfix (Dogmatix). This family-friendly expansion is particularly strategic, leveraging the immense popularity of Astérix’s loyal canine companion within the German market.

The full conversion of the park is projected to be completed by “horizon 2030/2031.” Upon its full transformation, the new Parc Astérix Germany aims to welcome an impressive 900,000 visitors annually, significantly boosting its presence in the competitive European theme park landscape.

Strategic Location and Market Potential

Compagnie des Alpes’ decision to establish Parc Astérix in Germany is underpinned by robust market data. Germany stands as the second-largest market for Astérix comic books globally, only trailing France. Furthermore, it represents the second-largest European market for leisure parks, indicating a strong appetite for high-quality entertainment destinations.

Belantis Park itself provides an excellent foundation for this ambitious project. It spans over 80 hectares, with an additional 41 hectares reserved for future developments, allowing ample space for new attractions and expansions over the coming decades. Its direct highway access further enhances its appeal as a prime leisure destination.

What This Means for Astérix Fans

This expansion signifies a vibrant future for the Astérix universe, extending its reach and allowing more fans to step directly into the world of their favorite Gauls. Visitors can anticipate the iconic theming, thrilling rides, and engaging shows characteristic of the original Parc Astérix, all with a distinct German flair.
