Today, Saturday September 20, 2025, I drove to the city of Breda to attend the Comic Convention (Stripbeurs) that takes places for the last time. Lots of stands where I could browse for copies of Asterix albums to add to my collection, but the main reason to go was … Philippe Fenech would be there and sign Idefix albums.

I met Phillipe in the city of Gent (Belgium) earlier this year. He was there to promote the release of a new Dutch translation of Dogmatix and the Indomitiables. In Dutch Dogmatix is named Idefix, just as in the French original but without é. In Breda the publishers of the Idefix albums (and thus also the Asterix albums) had stand with Philippe personalising the albums of the Dutch fans.

It gave me the chance to not only exchange a few words with Philippe (new Idefix albums can be expected every year in June, and yes he is working on the next album) but also with some of the people of Les Éditions Albert René. From them I learned that new Frisian translations can be expected in the foreseeable future.
