Golden Asterix Collectibles
Fans of Asterix are undoubtedly familiar with the Menhir d’Or (Golden Menhir), the prestigious prize for Druid of the Year, famously won by Getafix before his unfortunate capture by some unruly Goths. But did you know there are also Astérix d’Or (Golden Asterix) and Obélix & Idéfix d’Or (Golden Obelix and Dogmatix) figurines?
These golden resin collectibles were released by Plastoy as part of their exclusive Collectoys series. The figurines, while strikingly gold-colored, take their shape from earlier designs:
- The Asterix figurine follows the shape of the “Ça m’énerve!” (“That annoys me!”) bullet figurine.
- The Obelix figurine is modeled after the “Oui je boude, et alors?” (“Yes, I’m sulking, so what?”) bullet figurine.
Limited edition?
Initially, these figurines were bundled as part of an exclusive boxed set for an Asterix video game. However, they have since become available in select comic stores, making them more accessible to fans. Only 5,000 of these figurines were produced, which raises the question: Does this limited run make them a true collector’s item?
Visit your local comic store to see if they’re still in stock!
