Fun with Asterix and English

I recently came across a set of English Asterix comics, but there was something a bit different. They seem to be from an unknown (to me unknown) publisher. The seller asked peanuts for 25 Asterix albums, why not have a closer look?!

The publisher is ‘ediciones del prado’ and they released Asterix and Tintin albums in English for the Spanish market under the catchy name Study Comics. Every album came with a study guide and glossary in which students can easily look up unfamiliar words. The order of release seems random to me, it starts with Asterix at the Olympics. The total series consisted of 50 comics book, 28 Asterix volumes (up to Asterix and the Magic Carpet) and 22 Tintin albums.

I assume it was released as a subscription model and subscribers would get a new album every month or so. It was even accompanied by a TV program! How cool is that? Subscribed would get a walkman on top of that.

Tapes

The series came with seven tapes. Someone has been so friendly to upload some of the tapes to Youtube.
