À la poursuite du flacon vert

The eighth volume in the Dogmatix and the Indomitables series, À la poursuite du flacon vert (The Pursuit of the Green Flask), was published on June 11, 2025, by Éditions Albert René. Like its predecessors, the album follows the adventures of Dogmatix (Idéfix) and his loyal band of animal friends as they resist the Roman occupation in Lutetia. This 72-page softcover volume features three new stories filled with humor, action, and lighthearted mischief. While the storytelling remains consistent with the tone of earlier albums, the art marks a shift: this volume is illustrated by Federico Mancuso, taking over from Philippe Fenech, with vibrant colors once again provided by Sylvaine Scomazzon.
Notice! The album hasn’t been translated to English yet. All translations below are my own. I will update this page once the English translation has been released.
Stories
The main story, which lends its name to the title, sees the animals attempting to retrieve a mysterious green flask. This object turns out to be of strategic importance, as General Labienus and the Romans plan to use its contents in a new scheme—one that threatens the animals’ own potion supplies. In the second tale, Padgachix en manque de Vitamine (Gluttonix in need of Vitamine), the clumsy yet endearing Gluttonix falls head over heels for a refined Lutetian dog named Vitamine. His sudden bashfulness becomes a vulnerability that the scheming feline Monalisa is all too eager to exploit. The final story, Miche, ô ma miche (Oh my beloved loaf!), adds a humorous twist by presenting the same event—a missing loaf of bread—from several wildly conflicting points of view, showcasing the gang’s distinct personalities and their tendency to exaggerate.
Familiar faces return, including Stamina, Gluttonix, Bantera, Nocturnix and Astmatix, alongside the Romans and their canine collaborators. The arrival of Vitamine, a sophisticated new character, brings a fresh dynamic to the group. The setting remains the same—the bustling Roman-occupied city of Lutetia—but the interactions and narrative structure offer new perspectives within the well-established framework of resistance and camaraderie.
Popular
With this volume, the series continues to demonstrate its popularity among young readers and Asterix fans alike. Since its debut in 2021, Idéfix et les Irréductibles (Dogmatix and the Indomitables) has sold over 387,000 copies worldwide. À la poursuite du flacon vert builds on this success, offering a visually rich and entertaining addition that remains faithful to the spirit of the broader Asterix universe while carving out its own voice.
