Odius Asparagus

As a prefect of Gaul you have to keep Caesar pleased. To accomplish this, Odius Asparagus has the creative idea to give one of the indomitable Gauls as a present. 

Odius only appears in Asterix the Gladiator and is a caricature of George Fronval.  Fronval was a prolific contributor to Pilote known for his writings on history, wildlife, and exploration.

The name Alavacomgetepus is a phonetic play on the common French expression: “À la va-comme-je-te-pousse”. Literally translated, this means “as I push you along” or “at the rate I’m pushing you.” However, as an idiom, it is used to describe doing something slapdash, carelessly, or in a huff.
