Easy English

For the Special Olympics World Games 2023, that took place in Berlin, the German publisher of Asterix released a special version of Asterix at the Olympics Games in Easy English. Everything is done to make the album as easy to read as possible. The fonts are all standard fonts instead of Uderzo-font. The sentence structures and the vocabulary have been made more accessible as well and no more Latin quotes. The images weren’t changed. Beginner learners of English will certainly appreciate this album.

Study English with Asterix

Several Asterix albums have been used to help people learn English. Asterix chez les Bretons (Asterix in Britain) was released under the title J’Apprend l’Anglias avec Asterix (Understand English with Asterix) for French students of English.

In Spain the whole series was released with accompanying learning material, including audio cassettes, as the Fun with English-program. Italy had a similar program under the name Comics with me.

Asterix and Son and Asterix and the Magic Carpet were also published in a series called Asterix and the English Language. One side of the album tells the story, well on the next page vocabulary and grammar are quized and explained.

If only there was a ‘Learn French with Asterix for fans of Asterix’-series.
