Kingdom of Nubia: teaser poster

January 29, 2026

The teaser poster for “Astérix : Le Royaume de Nubie” has officially dropped, marking the return of our favorite indomitable Gauls to the big screen for December 2026.

The creators stick with the 3D animation style seen in The Mansions of the Gods and The Secret of the Magic Potion, but with a vibrant, sun-drenched palette that takes the adventure far beyond the borders of Armorica.

Key Highlights of the Reveal

  • The Hook: The poster leans heavily into classic Astérix humor. Obélix is shown carrying a rhinoceros—looking slightly puzzled—while the tagline reads: “Non, Obélix… ce n’est pas un sanglier !” (No, Obélix… that is not a boar!). It’s a perfect nod to his single-minded appetite.
  • The Creative Powerhouse: The film is directed by Alexandre Heboyan (Mune: Guardian of the Moon). The script is penned by the duo Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière, who recently dominated the French box office with their adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo.

Plot Details

This isn’t based on an existing comic book but is an original story. After a mishap involving a youth elixir and the magic potion, the villagers are transformed into children. Astérix and Obélix must travel to the distant Kingdom of Nubia to find a rare baobab seed—the only ingredient that can restore Panoramix (Getafix) and the others to their rightful age.
