Uderzo; an artist at work

In the deluxe version of “Mansions of the Gods” you get a glimpse of how Uderzo worked sometimes. The album starts with a panel in which you see the village you know so well, but wait … in the next panel you see that village again. This time however it is quite clear you are looking at a copy of the part of the first panel that was just pasted on top of the next panel. On the next page you can see how a copy of the previous panel was used with some editing on the sides to make it fit.

Digital

These days most cartoon artists work with digital tools and I am sure a lot more copy and pasting goes on. I think it is interesting to see how this was done before the digital age. What are you thoughts?
