Corsica is a French island in the Mediterranean Sea, located southeast of mainland France and north of Sardinia. Known for its rugged mountains, stunning coastlines, and rich history, it has a distinct culture shaped by centuries of Genoese, Italian, and French influence. The island is famous for its natural beauty, including the Scandola Nature Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its capital is Ajaccio, the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte. Corsica’s identity is strongly tied to its traditions and language.

Corsican

Corsican (Corsu) is a Romance language closely related to Italian, particularly the Tuscan dialect. While French is the official language, Corsican is widely spoken and taught in schools as part of efforts to preserve the island’s heritage. Corsican has experienced a cultural revival in recent decades, with increased use in media and literature.
